In addition to his first novel, The Dream Seeker, Matthew S. Field has written two illustrated children’s books, Father Like A Tree (2005) and The Three Pigs, Business School and Wolfe Hash Stew (2010).
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Field is a graduate of the University of Missouri where he earned a writing-intensive Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. Later, he completed a Master of Business Administration program at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania.
After a successful management career, Field moved with his wife and two daughters to Warwick, New York. Shortly after settling into their new home, Field received two life-changing pieces of news: the couple was expecting their third child and Field’s wife had been diagnosed with cancer. It was during this time that Field directed his professional energies toward writing.
On June 19, 2004, the couple welcomed a son. Exactly one year later, Father Like A Tree was published. Unfortunately, Field’s wife succumbed to her illness in February of 2005 and did not see the completed work.
Although today Field occasionally consults and contracts for the business community, he is primarily a full-time stay-at-home dad for his three children. Currently, Field is working on a non-fiction, journalistic narrative about the 1971 murder of a storekeeper in a north St. Louis, Missouri neighborhood.
